2016 Lans Distinguished Award: Dr. Aylin Kiliç

Dr. Kiliç is Senior Consultant and Director of the Refractive Surgery Department at Istanbul Eye Hospital. She graduated from Hacettepe University, Turkey in 1998. Early in her career she focused on keratoconus management with intracorneal rings. She wrote her first book with Joseph Colin who performed intracorneal ring first time in keratoconus. She also wrote several book chapters about intracorneal rings and crosslinking combined treatment in keratoconic eyes. She visited several clinics in Europe and the USA for educational purposes. 

She gave courses about keratoconus, LASIK surgery and femtocataract topics at European Society Cataract and Refractive Surgery and American Academy of Ophthalmology meetings. Currently, she serves as an Executive Committee Member of International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) which is the large international organization for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and is the first delegate from Turkey. She has a position as a member of Academic Faculty of Universita Della Svizzera Italiana European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology, giving lectures to students. 

She is editorial board member of the International Journal of Keratoconus and Ectatic Corneal Diseases, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Europe and Ocular Surgery News Journal. She is a well known international lecturer, she has been involved in many international organizations as an invited speaker about Keratoconus, Refractive Surgery, Femtosecond Laser, Presbiyopia and Cataract Surgery. She has published many articles and delivered more than 200 presentations internationally and nationally. She wrote her last book about corneal topography with Cynthia Roberts. 

She earned the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2010.
